I've done something bad to my hand; feels like a deep bruise on the back of my hand right where the first two fingers meet. It is not a constant pain, but hurts everytime I try to do something that involves manipulation using those fingers and my thumb - like shutting off iSobel's screen one-handed, or picking things up. It also hurts when I do small thing with that hand, like sign my name or type. It hurts a little right now (ow, ow), but I love ya'll, so here I am.

I don't know how I did this, but I am prone to whacking myself against things, so that's probably it. I'll give it a few days, and if it still hurts, I'll call the doctor. In the meantime, though, it's like my preview of arthritis, and the other wonderful joys of aging. I can barely pick Otto up with my right hand now, but I can do it - and I can bend over and am quick enough to grab him, too. I don't expect to lose that any time soon, but it's something I've been thinking about. I'm already irritated when there's something I can't do by myself because I can't lift/move/pry whatever it is, without a second or a stronger person. How pissed off will I be when I can't tie my own shoes? No wonder old people are crabby.

I am going to go make oatmeal (while I still can!), and then leisurely enjoy my newly-recovered cable channels.

I feel your pain. Typing sucked for the last two days (finally getting better). It's also little things that you don't ever think about. Washing my hair was kind of painful. Getting my cellphone out of my pocket is now a delicate operation. Opening medicine bottles is now a huge pain in the butt for me as it really requires both hands gripping solidly on the bottle. Blah. Hope you feel better soon!
