Plumber-iffic

The plumbers came to look at my broken pipe (well, to look at the walls my broken pipe is behind, and speculate on what was going on back there). They quoted me a price which sounded reasonable (what the heck do I know, but it was under $1000, and any home repair I can get for under $1000 sounds reasonable) to rip out and replace the lovely (broken) cast-iron pipe that runs between the basement and the third floor. And, as an extra bonus, they said they have some sheetrock they can nail over the (projected) hole on the first floor, so the ferrets do not get in the walls and Escape. And of course, they totally Know A Guy who can come do the plaster repair when they are done ripping it out. Which is sort of good, because I have a lot of plaster repairs that need to be done throughout the house, and I don't have a Guy for that already.

So, they may be back today to start ripping, or if not, they will totally do it all on Thursday. I am glad the kitchen sink has a little hand sprayer, and that my hair is not as long as it used to be.

In the meantime, I will run off and do other errands I never get to do during work hours. And perhaps treat myself to a nice lunch, to make up for the fact that my walls are about to be torn asunder.

Any home repair that is truly less than that is a steal :) And if they are good and they know a good plasterer then you are in clover. They seem to be like gold dust here.

I'll report once the job is all done and let you know...:)

I did treat myself to lunch: salmon and avocado wrap (with wasabi mayo, yum!) and hot tea at hipster sandwich shop. And now, to sort all my clothes (since the second-floor work will be done by ripping apart my closet, this is a good excuse to do some wardrobe pruning).

Hmm nice lunch. Am just about to have dinner (chicken curry thing made by the spouse) and I am ravenous.

What a good domestic day you are having :)
