Truly disastrous haircut
Dec. 8th, 2007 07:04 pmEvery time I go to get my haircut, I ask the hairdresser to layer it, trim it a bit, and cut it short around the face. And when I say "short around the face", I point to my cheekbones, to indicate where 'short' is for this purpose. Have you and I had this conversation already, internets? Because if so, you will already know that when I am done, the hair around my face is cut to my chin, which is not my cheekbones. And every time I am sad.
So this time, I was very clear about what I meant by "short around the face", and I pointed, and we had a conversation about it, and I really thought that this time, I was going to get what I asked for.
I think you have guessed, by now, that I did not.
It is short in front, all right; it barely covers my eyes. Not only that but it's short in every other direction as well, so short that I can't pull it back in a ponytail. She also thinned it, so it's too short, and too thin. The layers are too short, too, so it feathers out a bit on the sides. It is, without question, a Disastrous Haircut.
Does anyone out there in internets-land have a hairdresser who 1) actually listens to what s/he is asked to do, and 2) actually has the skills to then Do That Thing? Because I am going to have to go back to super-long hair in self-defense, if this keeps up.

Date: 2007-12-10 03:14 am (UTC)2: My mom drives from north Jersey to Harrisburg, PA to find a hairdresser she likes (her sister's also in PA, but she still makes the drive to get her hair cut). So I suspect it's not easy to find a person to cut women's hair who doesn't suck.

Date: 2007-12-10 01:55 pm (UTC)If you drive to Harrisburg to get your hair cut by the same person who cuts my Mom's hair, you'll be making a shorter drive than her. And even if you do, the guy may still not cut your hair right.

Date: 2007-12-13 02:29 am (UTC)Fostering otters! If it has a specific name, let me know - I can set the DVR for it (or get Kyriotate to set the TiVo, which I think is smarter than my system). Otters! I could totally use some cute otters right about now...:)
