Dear SPCA,

Please to be informed that as of 6.03pm, EDT, an air conditioner was installed in the room of Otto and Butters, the Ferrets In Question. They are currently being cooled down, and will be maintained at a comfortable 78 degrees Farenheit. Unless, that is, they are let out to romp around the house, in which case they have to suck it up and be hot like the rest of us.

No more calls in the dead of night, telling us to "Save the weasels, save the world," please.

Thank you.

Man, you spoil those guys rotten. The rabbits have to live with 82 deg F air during the day. And it's probably a little warmer in their room because it's not insulated as well as the rest of the house and is far away from the thermostat.

Thermostat is a cool word.

In theory, ferrets aren't supposed to be kept above 80-85F - they are supposedly very prone to heatstroke. I've lived with ferrets, and without a/c, for many years, so I suspect they are hardier than advertised. They are certainly happier when it's cold - I can let them on the porch in the winter and they will go nap, but once it gets above 85F or so outside, they lie around on their backs looking pathetic.

Wait, are you saying that "thermostat" is not a cool word? Will you at least accept "rheostat"?

Thank you, Ferrets Alliance, for your concern. And certainly if any Rabbits would like to come over and....visit....the ferrets would be happy to keep them nice and warm.
