In defense of the cable guy....

rorqualHe was stung by wasps as he tried to hook up our cable, so maybe he did know our mailer info, and was just too distracted by pain.
Random notes:
1) Of the ten (10) doors on the second and third floors, only two (2) of them close properly. None of these Good Doors are to the bathrooms, but one is to the ferrets' room, so that's good. And as soon as we buy them an air conditioner, they can be in their room, and not in ours, rattling around at all hours of the night.
B) I always put my parking brake on when I park my car (I used to never do it, but then I shared my car with a roommate who always used the parking brake, and I never remembered to take it off, and I drove all the way from Albuquerque to Santa Fe with it on, so I started using it out of self-defense). I am very good about using it, and never forget to take it off. Except, in the last four days, I've driven like six times with the parking brake still on. Not far, but still. I am clearly so frazzled by the move that I'm forgetting all those mechanical things I usually just do without thinking. Wonder if I can still tie my shoes.
* Non-move-related anecdote about stress: there's this thing my mom and I both share: when we are stressed out, we don't tend to freak out visibly too much, but we lose the ability to find the correct words for things. So we stutter and say "you know, the thing" a lot. When my mom was diagnosed with cancer my senior year in high school (she's fine now), there was a lot of pointing and stuttering going on in our house. It's a wonder we ever managed to carry on a conversation!
Off to build a couch! I hope!
