I started packing today, managing to cram most of the stuff in the ferrets' room into three medium and two small boxes. I think it'll be one more medium for the filing cabinet files. I also have to find more boxes; if anyone has some in a basement they want to get rid of, I'm your woman.

This is the easy phase - the Books Phase. Books stack nicely, and you can wedge in small things around the edges (which ends up with odd combos like German Grammer and Ponds Cream, or Poppy Z. Brite and Ribbons, but such is life). The hard part is the Rest of My Stuff, which I always feel I have to think about before I pack. Do I really need to keep all the badges from all the cons I've ever gone to? Can I throw away the ball of yarn for the project I never started and don't want to do now anyway? But, it's a whole ball of yarn! How about the adorable 20cc Erlenmeyer flask someone stole for me from the bio lab in college? I've had it for eighteen years, how can I give it up now?

The worse phase is the Misc Phase. I don't want to go into the closet in the ferrets' room; there's a small fridge in there and I fear it. The hall storage room is so full of stuff that it leaps out on you when the door is opened. The living room closet contains two concrete arches that we are never going to make into a table. Oy!

So far, the ferrets are being helpful, in that they are climbing in boxes and generally shuffling about the contents. I am optimistic that the boxes are so heavy that Otto will not be able to push one down onto Butters' head, thereby killing him. But I can't be 100% about that; sorry, Butters.

D-10 days to settlement (and the season premiere of SG-1, oddly).
D-23 days to move.
Y'all keep a good thought my allergies don't kill me!

Sure, I work 10-6 most days of the week but I can just bring them home from work on Saturday. I should have like, 6-8 of them by then. Do you need any medium or like oddly sized boxes? I was poking about yesterday and came across empty box heaven at work.

I am happy to have mediums - if they're really large, I'll probably use them for clothes and lampshades and things, and if they're medium I'll use them for books and DVD, of which I have nine million. I am having movers move them, so I'm not super-worried about using big boxes and having them be heavy, but I don't want to pack them so full that they collapse when picked up.

You rule, by the way - I will have to figure out some sort of Treat for you for being so useful...:)
