In theory, ferrets aren't supposed to be kept above 80-85F - they are supposedly very prone to heatstroke. I've lived with ferrets, and without a/c, for many years, so I suspect they are hardier than advertised. They are certainly happier when it's cold - I can let them on the porch in the winter and they will go nap, but once it gets above 85F or so outside, they lie around on their backs looking pathetic.
