I could go close all the windows, but instead, I will use the fact that it is Frickin' Cold as an excuse to put on a nice soft sweater, and my fancy new cashmere blend socks. ANd make a cup of tea.
Something I thought about the other day but didn't post: When I was in Montreal a while back, I was wandering down by the river, and came across the most wondrous thing: the Silophone. The Silophone is basically public art, of which I am a huge fan - some smart person set up a bunch of microphones in an abandoned storage silo in the city, and also a way where you, the Random Passerby, can make noise into a microphone, and it will be picked up and relayed into the silophone, where the silo's acoustics will kick in and make whatever you did, wondrous. I stepped up to it and belted out my best I-Took-Voice-Classes-At-A-Real-Music-School-Thank-You notes, and I have to say, it was just amazing. If you've ever performed on stage and heard your own voice coming back to you over the house speakers, you know how great that feeling is - it's like that - the same sensuous feeling of riding along on your own voice.
In theory, you can also interact with it via the website, but I can't make that work. Really, just go to Montreal and check it out.
