geekalpha has been trying to get me to read The Long Walk for a while now. I have a somewhat lower tolerance for bleak military stuff than he does, though, ::grin::
Another album that didn't make my list was Kleskevania by the Plaid-Tongued Devils, which is, I kid you not, a klezmer ska goth rock opera about the love triangle between an aristocrat, a prostitute, and the devil. I couldn't list it because at least three other people I know now have it, because it's just so good.
